Heat Restrictions

Hello, everyone! It’s that time of year again. With the heat on the rise, it’s time to announce the change to the walking schedule.

From now until September/October we will be limiting the length of walks for all the fur babies in our care between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm. What this means is that between these hours all walks and outdoor playtime will be limited to 20 minutes max. This will limit exposure to sun and heat and avoid the complications that can happen due to heat exhaustion or overheating. We will also do our best to limit walking on sidewalks and/or asphalt in order to avoid injury to paw pads as well. If we have a heat advisory or warning that day the time of limitations may be extended to as late as 6:00pm. Clients that this may impact will be notified as necessary of course. If you live in a heavily shaded area and walkways and paths are under shade and cooler spots then walks can be extended if it is deemed cool enough to be safe. Clients with English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, or other dogs prone to respiratory problems when exposed to high heat environments will be limited to 10 minute potty breaks before having indoor playtime only. This also applies to all pups with heart conditions.

I apologize if this is an inconvenience to anyone and I know the policy may seem strict. But it is for the safety of all the pets in our care as well as our employees. If anyone has questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time
